BUY ORIGINAL PAINTINGS BY LONDON-BASED ARTIST ABIGAIL LIPSKI
Working with oil paint and watercolour my work includes vibrant colours and bold brushwork, reminiscent of Fauvism.
“Hidden beneath colours that are reminiscent of sherbet drops and strawberry bon bons, Abi Lipski’s work is imbued with a sense of dark humour, fairy tale and fantasy lands. Her love of photography, found images and childhood memories inform a process that results in ink drawings, collage and painting.”
ABOUT ABIGAIL LIPSKI
I am a London-based fine artist who creates fantastical visual narratives based on intuitively developed fiction and lore. I work with oil paint and watercolour, utilise vibrant colours and bold brushwork, reminiscent of Fauvism. My artwork is exoteric and depicts recurring characters and fictional rituals within surreal landscapes. I also create sculpture and installation artwork; a virtual and sensory experience which can be described as a walk within one of my paintings. My practice illustrates a layering of history, fractured memory and myth influenced by nature, music, writing, powerful female icons and my birthplace, Epping Forest. Collating photography, collage and sculpture I recontextualise visual abstracts from my surroundings, popular culture and within memory. I think of my work as escapist, dream-like and a portal through which the audience can make otherworldly discoveries.
My work has been exhibited in group shows across London, most recently at Graham Hunter Gallery, Bargehouse Oxo Tower and Truman Brewery on Brick Lane.
